CLARK, NJ – The Arthur L Johnson Boys Tennis team has hired Chris Raguseo to head their Junior Varsity program for the 2008 season. The hire was approved and announced by the athletic department and the Clark Public Schools Board of Education. Raguseo returns to the Crusaders after leading the team to an 11-10 regular season record and a state tournament berth as head coach during the 2004 season.

“It is great to welcome Chris back into our program,” said Johnson head coach Craig D’Amico. “He’s a great coach, he knows his tennis, and he’ll do a great job teaching and working with our young talent in our JV program.”

Raguseo became the second head coach in team history to post a winning record in his first season at the helm. Serving as a physical education teacher at Valley Road Elementary School in Clark, Raguseo also recently wrapped up his sixth season as head coach of the Johnson girls tennis program. The 2002 Kean University graduate served as an assistant coach in 2001 with Immaculata High School, and played two years of varsity tennis at Carteret High School.  

In 2007, Johnson competed in their first JV season. The team went 1-2, earning a victory against Oratory, and dropping contests to Jonathan Dayton and Governor Livingston.

The 2008 Johnson Tennis junior varsity schedule features two scrimmages and eight regular season matches. The JV team will open up their regular season slate Tuesday, April 1 as they host the Cranford Cougars at the Johnson Tennis Courts in Clark.
