FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLARK, NJ – The Johnson Crusaders improved to 3-0 on the season with
their first sweep since April 25, 2006 against Bound Brook, with a 5-0 victory over Rahway at the Johnson Tennis Courts on
Monday afternoon.
Johnson continues their best start since 2003, defeating Rahway
for the 10th time in the last 11 meetings between the two schools.
The first doubles team of juniors James Villari and John Monagle became only
the second first doubles team in Johnson tennis history, and first since Devin Felter and Chintan Patel in 2002, to start
a season 3-0 as a team.
“Today was a solid victory for us, all five positions played sharp for
us,” said head coach Craig D’Amico. “To this point, we’ve done a great job of handling the teams we’re
supposed to beat, but coming up we face a tough stretch of teams where we are going to need to step up and take it to the
next level.”
The Crusaders return to conference play on Tuesday afternoon when they travel
to the Hillside Ave. Courts for a match-up with the Cranford Cougars. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
